Description
Zinc alloy, cast under pressure into a mold, is what gives a badge its raised, three-dimensional shape without extra machining steps. The metal fills fine detail in the mold cavity, so sharp letter edges and layered relief come straight out of the casting. It’s the starting material for most raised metal badges, whatever they end up mounted on.
Build options
Zinc alloy (Zamak) casts 1-6mm thick, with a die-cast wall of 0.8-1.2mm and relief from 0.5mm up to 3mm for deeper logos. Surface finish follows casting: chrome, gold, or nickel plating at 5-25 micron, painted color fill, or PVD coating in gun-black, rose gold, or matte black.
Common dimensions
Zinc die-cast badges span 40mm to 100mm across, while wall thickness stays near 1mm regardless of overall size – that’s what keeps a cast badge light without warping. Tolerance across a batch holds to +/-0.10-0.20mm.
