Electroformed Metal Badges

Electroforming builds a thin nickel shell over a mold, holding detail finer than casting or stamping can reach.

Description

Electroforming builds a badge up in thin metal layers over a mold, rather than casting or stamping it from solid stock. That process holds detail down to 0.05mm, finer than die casting can manage, while keeping the finished shell light. It’s the route Himgo uses when a logo has fine text or intricate line work.

Metals & surface options

Nickel is the standard electroforming metal, deposited 0.05mm to 0.30mm thick with a tolerance near +/-0.02mm. The thin shell is then plated chrome, gold, or black, or left brushed. Because the shell is hollow-backed, it mounts with adhesive film rather than a pin or stud.

Typical projects

  • Fine-line logo badges with small text
  • Consumer-electronics and appliance brand badges
  • Lightweight badges for fabric or bag surfaces
  • Automotive badges with intricate emblem detail
  • Packaging and retail-product badges

Sizes we run

Electroformed badges stay small – 20mm to 60mm – thinner than die-cast pieces at 0.1mm to 0.3mm shell thickness. Fine detail holds even at the smaller end, which is where stamping and casting both lose sharpness.

What to send

Fine line work needs high-resolution artwork – that’s the one thing to get right before sending. Himgo confirms shell thickness before a sample. Send artwork or a sample for review.
