Chemically Etched Metal Nameplates
Chemically etched nameplates in aluminum, steel, or brass, with recessed lines around 0.02-0.15mm deep for color-filled or two-tone marking.
Description
Etching removes metal along the artwork lines instead of adding a mark onto the surface. The result is a recessed line, typically 0.02-0.15mm deep, that can be filled with paint for contrast. This suits technical layouts with fine text, logos, or wiring diagrams that need to stay sharp under repeated handling.
Sizes & thickness
Standard aluminum and steel blanks run from 80x40mm up to 200x100mm, at 0.3-3mm thickness. Minimum line width is about 0.25mm on aluminum and 0.30mm on steel, so fine artwork stays legible. Any size can be cut to your drawing, tolerance around +/-0.10mm.
Metals and finishes
Aluminum, stainless steel, and brass all etch cleanly. Brushed or matte surfaces are common after etching, since they hide handling marks around the recessed lines. Anodized aluminum can also be etched through the oxide layer for a two-tone look.
Where buyers use it
- Technical control panels with dense text or diagrams
- Rating plates where recessed detail needs to survive repeated wiping
- Two-color logos using color-filled etched lines
- Equipment ID plates exposed to outdoor weather
Typical applications
| Industry / setting | How this product is used |
|---|---|
| Instrument panels and control cabinets | Etched dial and control-panel labels keep fine typography and logos legible at small sizes without raised edges catching on nearby switches. |
| Laboratory bench equipment | Etched nameplates give a flat, snag-free surface next to cables and cleanroom benches where raised lettering would catch on gloves or tubing. |
| Branded electronics enclosures | Etched logo plates applied to housing lids reproduce fine linework and gradients that stamping or engraving can’t match. |
| Medical device housings | Etched model and spec labels stay crisp on device casings that get wiped down repeatedly without ridges trapping residue. |
